Noema Showcases Computer Vision for Industrial Safety and Monitoring at Araelec Automation Day

Noema demonstrated its AI-powered computer vision and video analytics applications for safety, infrastructure, and industrial environments at Araelec Automation Day (AAD) in Zaragoza, Spain. Visitors from more than 360 companies gathered to explore the latest technologies and trends in industrial automation, including AI, connectivity, machine safety, digitalization, and sustainability.

Held every two years by Araelec, the event brought together companies and technology providers to share solutions and discuss current industrial challenges. Noema’s CEO Roman Lavlinskiy and Vice President of Engineering Bruno Oliveira attended to present Noema’s computer vision applications and meet with companies exploring how AI and video analytics can be applied to real-world requirements.

Throughout the event, safety emerged as the strongest area of interest for Noema, with Safety & Security Zones generating the most questions from attendees.

AI-Powered Video Analytics for Safety and Security

Noema Safety & Security Zones uses computer vision and AI-powered video analytics to monitor defined areas and detect when people enter restricted, hazardous, or protected zones. Using configurable virtual boundaries, Noema continuously monitors activity and identifies zone violations in real time, helping organizations improve situational awareness and respond faster to potential safety and security incidents. The application works with compatible existing camera infrastructure to detect and track people within monitored areas, with configurable zones and detection rules that can be adapted to different environments and operational requirements.

Flood, Fire, and Smoke Monitoring

Environmental and infrastructure monitoring were also important areas of discussion at AAD.

Noema’s Flood Detection application uses smart cameras and computer vision to monitor water levels and provide alarms for flooding events in bodies of water and flood plains. Water segmentation and virtual rulers are used to monitor changes in water levels and provide customizable alarms.

Noema’s Fire & Smoke Detection application uses computer vision and AI to automatically monitor areas for fire and smoke and can provide event-specific alarms and visual data when either is detected.

Together, these applications show how Noema applies computer vision to real-world environmental and infrastructure monitoring challenges.

From Zaragoza to Real-World Applications

The conversations at AAD reflected the growing role of computer vision in industrial automation across areas such as workplace safety, access monitoring, flood detection, fire and smoke monitoring, and emerging industrial applications.

As new use cases emerge, understanding the specific challenges organizations face helps shape how computer vision technology can be applied and tailored to meet their needs. For Noema, these insights help inform new applications and opportunities for its computer vision technology.
